We believe every child and young person has the right to feel valued, appreciated and connected.
Our products, classes and trainings aim to help parents, teachers (and professionals working with children) support the mental health and wellbeing of young people, so they can navigate life feeling calm, confident and creative and lit up from within.
Relax Kids was created in 2000 with one goal – to help children feel more positive, resilient and believe in themselves.
“Learning about emotions and emotional skills is as important as learning core subjects as no matter what children do in life, their emotions will follow them” – Marneta Viegas, founder of Relax Kids.
Relax Kids aims to support children build good emotional health through relaxation, meditation and values-based classes and products.
We use a unique 7-step system that works through children’s natural energy system to lead them into a relaxed state where they are ready to learn.
For the last two decades, with the help of our tribe of over 5,000 coaches, we have been dedicated to teaching important mental health skills that have transformed the lives of young people and their families.
Our underpinning belief is that every young person needs attention, affection and affirmation to grow and be their best self. We encourage families to spend quality time together learning to relax and offer mindfulness tools for the classroom.
A unique approach
‘It takes a village to raise a child’ – African Proverb
In order to cultivate emotionally healthy children, an entire community (parents, teachers and professionals) need to interact with children for them to be exposed to a wide variety of positive role models and grow feeling safe and relaxed.
Drawing on 20 years experience, we have developed a comprehensive 3-pronged community approach to mental health, where parents, teachers and Relax Kids coaches can all play an important part in supporting children and young people’s emotional wellbeing.
Children can attend Relax Kids classes run by one of our Relax Kids Coaches (either in school, community or 1:1).
We offer a range of classes for children of all ages from under 5s to teens.
Schools can support these weekly classes by accessing the Calmaclass Online Toolkit where different short mindful and relaxation exercises have been set out for each part of the day.
Calmafamily, using resources (books, audios and packs) to support your child’s mental and emotional well-being at home.
Relax Kids books, audios and packs are also available to support this unique all-round approach.
We believe by using this three-pronged approach we can support children and young people in the most effective way that can bring an improvement to not only their mental and emotional health and wellbeing but their school learning and achievements.
Relax Kids uses research-based mindful and relaxation techniques alongside values and positive psychology (positivity, strength-building, gratitude, resilience and compassion), to help support children’s emotional health and wellbeing.
Relax Kids was created by Marneta in 2000 who had been a children’s entertainer since 1992.
Having noticed a change in children’s behaviour, she felt meditation and relaxation would help their concentration and focus. Her aim was to make meditation easy and accessible to children.
Marneta wrote her first book Aladdin’s Magic Carpet where she turned fairytales into meditations allowing children to go on imaginative adventures in their mind to help them relax.
She also developed (from her years of performing arts experience) a pioneering system to teach relaxation and self-awareness to children using a unique 7-step system – Move, Play, Stretch, Feel, Breathe, Believe and Relax.
Relax Kids was featured on Dragons’ Den in 2005 and although it did not get funding, went on to train a tribe of over 5,000 dedicated coaches running classes in over 49 countries and is used by over a million children.
As Relax Kids has grown, it has aimed to keep the core values of inclusivity, positivity and creativity at its heart, where the main focus has been supporting young people’s wellbeing.
